Mark Weiss; David McClisterPoison and Cheap Trick kick off their Nothin’ but a Good Time 2018 tour tonight in Irvine, California, with modern rockers Pop Evil set to open most of the shows. The trek, which wraps up July 1 in Hollywood, Florida, marks the second time the two veteran rock acts will hit the road together, following a 2009 tour.

Poison frontman Bret Michaels tells ABC Radio that he’s “a big fan” of Cheap Trick, and is excited to play with the power-pop legends again.

“These guys are still rocking it, they’re still relevant, they’re keeping it real,” Michaels declares. “And what I love about them most is that they have just incredible songs. When you think about ‘Surrender’…’Dream Police’…'[I] Want You to Want Me,’ and so many others.”

Cheap Trick singer Robin Zander tells ABC Radiot he expects rock fans to flock to their shows, “because it’s a good package.” He adds, “We’ve done this before with Poison and it’s always been a good time.”

The thing Michaels says he’s most excited about, though, “is getting out there live onstage [and] putting on an unbelievably great show.”

He adds, “On a very personal note, I’m looking forward to getting together with [Poison guitarist] C.C. [DeVille, drummer] Rikki [Rockett] and [bassist] Bobby [Dall], and heading out on the road…It truly will be a ‘Nothing but a Good Time’ tour.”

Michaels also says he loves performing for Poison’s “three generations of amazing, amazing fans,” and describes their live show as “an absolute party.”
