A Flippin man, 43-year-old Garry Gebhart, has been sentenced to six years supervised probation after being charged with three felony counts for possession of firearms by certain persons, meaning he is a felon.
Gebhart was sentenced in Marion County Circuit Court Wednesday following a negotiated plea.
A traffic stop on the Flippin Bypass in November 2017 led to Gebhart’s arrest. According to the probable cause affidavit, Gebhart was stopped by an Arkansas State Police trooper when he was observed not wearing his seatbelt. A check of Gebhart’s truck indicated it was displaying a fictitious tag from a Nebraska vehicle. Gebhart told the trooper the tag did not belong on the vehicle he was driving and his driver’s license was suspended. The tag was registered to another truck Gebhart owns.
Records also indicate Gebhart had an outstanding warrant from Marion County for his arrest. When he exited the vehicle, Gebhart advised the trooper he was a felon, and there were firearms inside his truck. The trooper located a rifle in a gun rack mounted to the ceiling, along with a .22 revolver under the driver’s side seat and a .20 gauge shotgun also under the seat. All three guns were loaded. No proof of insurance was found in the vehicle, which had an inoperable taillight.
