The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is kicking off this year’s Click It or Ticket week with “Border to Border (B2B),” a one-day national seat belt awareness event coordinated by participating state highway safety offices and their respective law enforcement liaisons. Arkansas is one of six states who will participate in the initiative. The B2B event will be held Monday and will commence the Click It or Ticket week, which runs through June 3rd.

The B2B program aims to increase law enforcement participation by coordinating highly visible seat belt enforcement and providing seat belt fact sheets for drivers at heavily traveled and highly visible state border checkpoints. The special operation is designed to send a zero-tolerance message across the six states that no matter where drivers and passengers are unbuckled, the result will be a ticket. In Mountain Home, the maximum penalty for a seat belt violation is a $90.00 fine.
