Coffey With Steve headlines Friday Night Block Party

This week’’s headliner for the Mountain Home Friday Night Block Party is the jazz band Coffey With Steve.

Music and activities will begin at 7:00 Friday night at the courthouse square in Mountain Home. The event is free to the public, and all are welcome.

Coffey With Steve is a group of friends sharing a love of jazz. The trio met at Steve’’s recording studio, Panther Creek Recording, in 2005. Since then, they have filled the hills and hollers near Rush in Marion County with jazz. The jazz trio consist of Steve Kuether, Kent Coffey, and Beci Coffey.

Steve Coffey was the musical director on the Showboat Branson Bell for many years and has shared the stage with such acts as BB King, Spyro Gyra, Taj Mahal, Leon Redbone and many others. He has composed and produced music for television, radio and film, as well as recording and producing many artists and groups at his

Kent Coffey learned to play jazz guitar from his good friend and mentor Gus Smith. He has enjoyed playing bluegrass and blues guitar for many years.

Beci Coffey developed a love of jazz at an early age from her mom, Doretha Shipman. Kent Coffey and Beci Coffey tour playing bluegrass and make appearances on Branson Country USA.

Holy Smokes BBQ will be on hand selling barbecue, and the Baxter County Historical Society will be selling ice cream sundaes. Funnel cakes, kettle corn and lemonade are also available for purchase from concession vendors, and attendees will have a chance to win door prizes during the band’’s intermission.
