LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) _ University of Arkansas officials have given final approval to tuition-and-fee rates for the next academic year.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that the university’s board of trustees decided on Thursday to keep tuition flat for in-state students at the system’s four-year universities while raising mandatory fees.
The average year-over-year increase at the four-year universities will be about $325 for a student taking a typical 30-hour course load. The rates don’t include other costs, such as housing or books.
System President Donald Bobbitt says the system’s seven community colleges will see tuition increase no more than 2.1 percent.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson asked public universities in January to temporarily freeze tuition and for public two-year schools to raise tuition no more than rises in the consumer price index.
