The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved bids for improvements to roadways in Marion and Searcy counties.

Arkansas Department of Transportation officials say the Marion County project will resurface 1.2 miles of selected sections of various city streets in Pyatt including W. Bradford, Foster, E. Bradford, Hanson, Mitchell, and W. Forsythe, as well as Bright Loop and St. Clair Trail.

In Searcy County, two miles of County Road 61 near Evening Star will be resurfaced.

Dilbeck Excavation, Inc. of Mountain Home was the award winner for both counties. In Marion County, the contract award was $154,900, while Searcy County’s was $223,205.

Construction in both counties is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in mid year.
