Funding from 4 grants headed to North Central Arkansas

Funding from four Arkansas Economic Development Commission grants will be utilized in North Central Arkansas.

The announcement of the grants was made during the commission’s annual Rural Development Conference. Governor Asa Hutchinson presented grants totaling to $735,516 to 54 Arkansas cities and counties at a ceremony held at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. The grants fall into one of three programs, including the Rural Community Grant Program, the County Fair Building Grant Program and the Arkansas Unpaved Roads Grant Program.

A total of $353,728 was awarded to 33 cities and counties under the Rural Community Grant Program to fund projects such as baseball fields, community parks, walking trails, and community center fire stations. Local communities who received grants include Big Flat with a $13,302 grant, Marshall with a $15,000 grant, and Searcy County with a $8,877 grant.

A total of $50,610 was awarded to 14 counties under the County Fair Building Grant Program. Searcy County was among those awarded, receiving a $4,000 grant.
