A Sunday afternoon traffic stop led to the arrest of a rural Gassville man. According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, 41-year-old Christopher Jenkins was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on felony counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear. Jenkins’ bond is set at $5,000.

Sheriff Montgomery reports Deputy Craig Gates observed a blue pickup truck being driven in an erratic manner. The deputy initiated the traffic stop in the Henderson Park Campground and made contact with the driver identified as Jenkins.

Jenkins was unable to produce a driver’s license or vehicle documentation, and Deputy Gates reportedly could smell an odor of burned marijuana. A search of Jenkins allegedly uncovered nearly 1.7 grams of methamphetamine and 13.8 grams of marijuana in his pockets. The vehicle was later searched leading to the discovery over smoking pipes, bongs, straws and portions of marijuana cigarettes.

Jenkins is set to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court next month. He has been booked into the detention center ten times since 2013.
