As part of his continued work in the fight against HIV and AIDS, Elton John will be delivering the Diana, Princess of Wales Lecture on HIV next month.

The lecture was established by the United Kingdom’s National AIDS Trust in 1999 as a tribute to Princess Diana, who was a patron of the organization before her death in 1997. This year, the lecture is being given in partnership with the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Elton will deliver the speech in front of an audience of politicians, health workers, journalists, civil society leaders, celebrities and people living with HIV. In it, he’ll lay out a vision for an AIDS-free future, as well as reflect on his friendship with Princess Diana.

“I am delighted to be able to deliver this lecture and to remember the enormous contribution Diana, Princess of Wales made to this cause,” Elton says in a statement.

He adds, “In the quarter century since the Elton John AIDS Foundation was established, the global AIDS fight has changed beyond recognition. Yet tolerance and courage has never been more important in the fight to create an AIDS-free generation and make the world a more accepting place for those living with HIV.”

The lecture will take place on June 8 in London.
