ABC/Image Group LA Morgan Evans is on the verge of having his first top-ten hit in the U.S., as his debut single, “Kiss Somebody,” hovers around #13.

The Australian singer admits it’s particularly gratifying, since he left his life Down Under behind to pursue a career in America.

“[It’s] the most fulfilling thing that’s ever happened,” Morgan says of his initial success. “I’ve been playing music a long time, and to move to another country, you do give up so much of your family and friends and hometown, just to go and chase this creativity and passion, and all that kind of thing.”

“There’s so much self-doubt along the way,” he admits to ABC Radio, “that now that this is actually out there, and I’m getting the first reaction and it’s so positive. It’s like, I’m doing the right thing, you know? It’s a great feeling.”

Of course, well before “Kiss Somebody” took off, Morgan met his future wife, Kelsea Ballerini, while hosting an awards show together in Australia. The two tied the knot last December.

Next month, Morgan kicks off his 10 Cities in 10 Days tour June 21 in Los Angeles.
