The Beatles releasing “Yellow Submarine” picture-disc single in honor of film's 50th anniversary

Subafilms Ltd./Apple Corps Ltd./ Universal Music GroupAs part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for The Beatles‘ 1968 animated film Yellow Submarine, a limited-edition seven-inch vinyl picture disc featuring the movie’s title track will be released on Friday, July 6.

The disc also will feature “Eleanor Rigby” on the B-side, thereby recreating the single the Fab Four issued in August of 1966. Both tracks were originally included on the 1966 Beatles album Revolver as well.

The picture disc will boast images of the Yellow Submarine and cartoon likenesses of the band’s members taken from the recently restored version of the film. The single will be housed in a sleeve boasting a circular cutout to show the image appearing on the disc.
