RhinoAs recently announced, Graham Nash will release a 30-track compilation called Over the Years… on June 29 that features highlights from the folk-rock legend’s long career, as well as many previously unreleased demo recordings. Among them is an early solo recording of the 1970 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young hit “Our House,” which has been given an exclusive premiere at Billboard.com.

Nash recorded the track, which features only his vocals and sparse piano, in 1969 in San Francisco. He tells Billboard he “had a definite idea of what form the song would take” when he brought it to the group, adding that “what we did was do our version of my arrangement.”

Graham also recalls that Stephen Stills suggested adding a guitar solo “but it didn’t feel like a guitar solo song, and that’s how we ended up singing ‘la, la, la-la-la-la…'” in the chorus.

As previously reported, Over the Years… will initially be released as a two-CD set, a digital download and via streaming services. The first disc showcases Nash’s studio recordings with Crosby, Stills & Nash, with CSNY, as a duo with David Crosby, and solo. The second disc features the aforementioned demos, spanning from 1968 to 1980.

Meanwhile, Nash tells Billboard that CSN is still on hold, due to a rift with Crosby.

“No one talks to Crosby,” Graham explains. “I don’t know what’s going on. All I know is I’m here on my own trip now and having a great time.”

Nash, who has many solo tour dates scheduled this year, adds, “[I]f Neil [Young] calls again and says, ‘Hey…man, I’ve got six great songs here. What do you want to do?’ then we’re off and running again. But until that happens, nothing’s going on.”
