A recent local high school graduate is the recipient of the inaugural Savannah Leckie Memorial Scholarship. The Theodosia Area Volunteer Fire Department awarded the scholarship to Martha Wood from Gainesville High School.
The scholarship was established last year in memory of the 16-year-old Leckie who was a junior firefighter. The department is expressing appreciation to everyone donating to the fund.
Wood will receive $300 to be used for tuition or other school-related expenses.
