Kevin MazurBilly Joel is not just a five-time Grammy winner, he’s also a Tony winner.  In 2003, he took home the award for Best Orchestrations for Movin’ Out, the hit Broadway musical based on his songs.  That’s why he’s been tapped as a presenter at this Sunday night’s Tony Awards.

Billy is just one of many celebrity presenters who’ll appear on the telecast, which is being hosted by Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles.  But it’s a rare opportunity to see the Piano Man on TV since these days, he mostly sticks to performing live in concert.

Robert De Niro, Katharine McPhee, Jim Parsons, Patti LuPone, Kerry Washington, Jeff Daniels, Amy Schumer, Tina Fey, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Christine Baranksi are some of the other presenters this year.

The musicals Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants lead the 72nd Annual Tony Awards, which will air live from New York’s Radio City Music Hall Sunday night on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.

Later this month, Billy will head overseas for shows in England, Ireland and Germany before returning for his monthly residency performance at Madison Square Garden.  That show, on July 18, will be his 100th career performance at the legendary New York City venue.
