InterscopeAn alternate version of the new U2 song “Lights of Home,” remixed by Beck, was featured last April on an exclusive Record Store Day vinyl disc. Now the alt-rock singer/songwriter has remixed another recent tune by the band, “Love Is Bigger than Anything in Its Way.” The reworked track has just been released as a digital download and via streaming services.
Beck’s remix adds more electronic keyboards and beats, giving the track an ’80s New Wave sheen. Like “Lights of Home,” the original version of “Love Is Bigger than Anything in Its Way” appears on U2’s latest studio album, Songs of Experience.
In late April, U2 debuted an official video for “Love Is Bigger than Anything in Its Way” featuring a variety of LGBTQ youth from the group’s hometown of Dublin, Ireland. Last week, U2 stopped by Jack White‘s Third Man Records headquarters in Nashville to record an acoustic version of the tune that will be issued as a “special edition vinyl” soon.
U2’s currently promoting the album on the North American leg of their eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour, which continues Tuesday night and Wednesday in Montreal. The leg winds down with a July 3 concert in Uncasville, Connecticut, and the tour will then head to Europe for a two-month-plus series of shows starting August 31 in Berlin.
