BMG Rights ManagementJohn Fogerty and ZZ Top‘s Billy Gibbons have uncovered the “Holy Grail.” The two rock legends just released their collaborative single by that name as a digital download and via streaming services today.
The track got its premiere on Thursday at RollingStone.com, and you also can check it out at Fogerty’s official YouTube channel.
The ex-Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman wrote “Holy Grail,” a swampy blues shuffle reminiscent of classic tunes by both his old group and ZZ Top. Fogerty and Gibbons both contribute vocals and guitar to the tune.
“For me as a musician, swamp boogie is the ‘holy grail’ of music,” Fogerty explains to Rolling Stone. “This sound captured my soul from a very early age. I couldn’t think of a better artist to conjure the vibe of the swamp with me better than the one and only Billy F. Gibbons.”
Gibbons, whose band currently is co-headlining the Blues & Bayous Tour with Fogerty, describes the song as “classic electric-guitar chops with an electrifying climax.”
The Blues & Bayous Tour resumes this Sunday, June 10, with a show in Oklahoma City and is mapped out through a June 29 concert in Welch, Minnesota. But first up for Fogerty will be a pair of headlining gigs, tonight in Catoosa, Oklahoma, and Saturday in New Braunfels, Texas.
John also has more headlining performances scheduled after his trek with ZZ Top winds down, including a six-date Las Vegas engagement at the Wynn resort casino in October.
