When high school students return to class in August in Mountain Home there will be a new course available in plant science. A new greenhouse will be constructed this summer at a cost of just over $100,000 plus site prep and foundation work, which was approved by the school board in May.

Superintendent Dr. Jake Long says the school received a grant through the State Department of Career Education to cover a large part of the cost.

The Mountain Home superintendent says the students will grow a wide array of plants, some of which will be consumed in the schools.

The greenhouse will be 90×30 feet and will be built across from the agri barn between the high school and junior high school buildings. Teacher Brandon Lewis will head up the plant science curriculum.
