MJ Kim/MPL CommunicationsNew details have emerged about the surprise concert Paul McCartney played Saturday in front of 50 people at a pub in his hometown of Liverpool, U.K.

BBC News reports that, according to multiple sources, the rock legend delivered a set that included hits by The Beatles and Wings, as well as a pair of new tunes believed to be earmarked for his forthcoming studio album.

According to the BBC, Sir Paul also duetted with Late Late Show host James Corden at the gig. McCartney had been spotted filming with Corden at various Liverpool sites for what is believed to be an extended edition of Corden’s popular Late Late Show segment “Carpool Karaoke.” The Los Angeles-based show will be airing from London from June 19 to June 22.

One man who attended the club concert told BBC Radio 6 Music that he witnessed McCartney performing the Fab Four tunes “I Wanna Be Your Man,” “Back in the USSR,” “Lady Madonna,” “Hey Jude” and “Birthday.” He said Paul dedicated the latter tune to a couple of fans in the audience who were celebrating their birthdays that day.

You can check out footage of McCartney performing one of his new songs in a montage of fan-filmed video posted on YouTube.

In other McCartney news, two interesting new posts recently appeared on Sir Paul’s official Twitter feed, following an enigmatic blank square that was posted Saturday on his Facebook page.

One tweet features a line drawing that resembles railroad tracks disappearing into a tunnel, while the other is a black-and-white photo of a recording studio with several microphones set up, as well as an upright piano. Could these posts be teasers in advance of Macca announcing details of his new solo album? We’ll have to wait to find out.
