An Izard County man, 35-year-old Nathaniel Allen Speak of Calico Rock, has been arrested and charged with domestic battery in connection with an altercation with his 66-year-old father.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Izard County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an assault in the 3000 block of Highway 5 north on the evening of May 29th. The caller advised her son had assaulted her husband.
After the scene was secure, Vital Link EMS was requested at the residence to provide aid to Speak’s father who reportedly had several cuts on his face and was transported to the Calico Rock Medical Center. Speak’s mother also had what appeared to be a skin tear on her left arm.
Speak’s mother provided a statement to law enforcement, saying the father and son began arguing, when Speak pushed his father and began hitting him. Speak is alleged to have pulled his father off the porch and began beating him again.
A neighbor was able to take Speak to the ground and hold him. When he let Speak up, he attempted to engage in fighting again.
Speak’s bond was set at $15,000, and he is set to appear in Izard County Circuit Court later this month.
