Courtesy of Live NationForeigner, Whitesnake and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening will kick off their U.S. summer package trek, the Juke Box Heroes Tour, this Friday, June 15, in Bangor, Maine. To promote the tour, Whitesnake’s David Coverdale and Foreigner’s Mick Jones have filmed a fun YouTube video featuring the veteran U.K. rockers chatting as they enjoy the very British pastime of High Tea.
As they sip on tea and snack on finger sandwiches and pastries, Coverdale and Jones trade compliments and muse about their forthcoming trek.
“This year is Whitesnake’s 40th anniversary,” Coverdale points out. “It was yours last year…It’s mind-blowing to me.”
David then recalls that the first Foreigner song he ever heard was “Feels Like the First Time.” “It was great,” Coverdale gushes. “Because what you brought was the rock, but with melody…and themes that people could identify with.”
In addition, Coverdale tells Jones that he loved Foreigner’s chart-topping 1981 album 4, specifically the memorable smash “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” as well as the group’s 1984 #1 hit ballad “I Want to Know What Love Is.”
“I thought those were iconic, and continue to be marvelous,” David adds.
Tooting his own horn, Coverdale points out, “I have ‘Is This Love?’ and ‘Here I Go Again,'” to which Jones responds, “Amazing. You know, when I first heard ’em, I thought, ‘Who the f*** is that!'”
Commenting on both bands’ arsenal of classic tunes, David notes, “If you have songs like ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’…and ‘Here I Go Again,’ these songs that potentially live forever. They become as George Harrison would say to me, ‘Evergreens.'”
The Juke Box Heroes tour runs through an August 1 concert in Irvine, California. Here are all of the dates for the trek:
