Ringo Starr is one of many music stars who have contributed their talents to a new tribute album honoring late pop-country singer-songwriter Roger Miller.

Due out August 31, according to Rolling Stone, King of the Road: A Tribute to Roger Miller is a two-disc set that features an eclectic variety of artists covering Miller’s songs, including Starr, Huey Lewis and actor John Goodman, as well as country legends Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn and the late Merle Haggard, among many others.

Ringo recorded a version of Miller’s 1979 tune “Hey, Would You Hold It Down?,” while Lewis teams up with country veterans Asleep at the Wheel for a rendition of Roger’s 1964 top-10 hit “Chug-a-Lug.”

The album ends with a cover of Miller’s biggest hit and trademark tune, “King of the Road,” featuring various artists. The song reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1965.

The album was co-produced by Roger’s son, Dean Miller, who also sings one of the tracks. Among the many others contributing the King of the Road album are Toad the Wet Sprocket, Cake, Tonic frontman Emerson Hart, Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Alison Krauss, Lyle Lovett, Dwight Yoakam, Brad Paisley, Jamey Johnson and Kacey Musgraves.

Known for his witty story-songs, Miller enjoyed an extended run of hits on both the pop and country charts during the 1960s. He won more than 10 Grammys, and received Tony Award for Best Score in 1985 for his work on the musical Big River.

Miller died of lung cancer in 1992 at the age of 56, and was inducted posthumously into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1995.
