Universal PicturesCher returns to theater screens next month in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the sequel to the hit 2008 movie musical Mamma Mia! Now, thanks to an advance release from the movie’s soundtrack, we know what Cher sounds like singing ABBA.

The song is “Fernando,” originally a hit for ABBA in 1976 and one of the best-selling singles of all time. In the movie, Cher sings it with actor Andy Garcia, who plays a character named — you guessed it — Fernando.

In the movie, Cher plays Ruby Sheridan, the mother of Donna, portrayed by Meryl Streep, and grandmother of Sophie, played by Amanda Seyfried. In the movie, Ruby shows up unexpectedly as Sophie is expecting her first child.

The soundtrack for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is out July 13; the movie itself hits theaters July 20. In addition to Cher, Streep, Garcia and Seyfried, the film also stars Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper and Stellan Skarsgård, as well as Lily James as young Donna.

Coincidentally, Cher’s songs will soon be featured in a Broadway show, just as ABBA’s were in the original stage musical Mamma Mia! The Cher Show, which tells the entertainer’s story through her songs, is currently in previews in Chicago. Previews at Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre begin November 1, with opening night scheduled for December 3.
