Big Loud “Take Back Home Girl,” Chris Lane‘s duet with pop star Tori Kelly, enters country’s top ten this week. But Chris says he really realized his song is a hit when he played the Country LakeShake Festival on Sunday.
“I had a moment this past weekend in Chicago, playing at Lake Shake,” he tells ABC Radio, “where I have never had that many people at a show singing every word to the songs, and especially ‘Take Back Home Girl.'”
It’s especially gratifying for the North Carolina native, since his latest hit is also the lead single from his sophomore album, Laps Around the Sun, which comes out July 13.
“It gave me chills just thinking about how many people were there and how many people knew the words to that,” Chris confesses. “So, to finally to have a song that that many people connect to, and can show up and sing their heart out to, makes me so happy.”
Chris will continue previewing Laps Around the Sun by releasing the track “I Don’t Know About You” this Friday.
