Roadside Attractions/MiramaxIn a touching excerpt from the upcoming documentary Whitney, the late Whitney Houston expresses her love for her daughter Bobbi Kristina with a serenade.

In the clip, posted by Entertainment Weekly, Bobbi Kristrina clutches the legs of her mother on stage during a concert. Whitney is wearing a glamorous full-length gown, and her husband, Bobby Brown, is watching from the side of the stage.

In the video, Whitney sings, “Bobbi my baby, my little girl, she inspires me and she gives me joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy and mommy loves you girl/ You don’t have to worry about a thing because I’m standing by your side, don’t worry.”

The documentary is directed by Kevin Macdonald, whose credits include The Last King of Scotland.

“I wanted to give people the sense of why [Houston is] so great, and why she’s worth making a film about,” Macdonald tells Entertainment Weekly. “The talent is so obvious when you hear those songs, but you had to show that. So I wanted, broadly speaking, the first half of the movie to be kind of like, ‘Oh, she’s amazing.'”

The Whitney documentary, which opens in theaters on July 6, is endorsed by the Houston estate.
