Camden resident leads opening day of Big Bass Bonanza

The Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza began Friday on a 300-mile stretch of the Arkansas River between Fort Smith and Dumas, and the biggest bass of the day was weighed in at the Pine Bluff pool. Billy Holeman, Jr., of Camden leads the way with a 6.03-pound bass.

Other pool leaders after the first day include Blake Anschultz out of Dumas at 5.95 pounds, William Keller out of Russellville at 5.73 pounds, Bill McCutcheon out of North Little Rock at 5.37 pounds and Ashley Whitman out of Fort Smith at 5.28 pounds.

In the youth competition, Scout Echols had the biggest bass as he leads grades 9 through 12 at 5.54 pounds. Bryson Ridenour leads the the 6th through 8th grade group at 2.3 pounds.
