3 local Cal Ripken teams win state title

Three local Cal Ripken baseball teams were able to finish the weekend as state champions.

The Mountain Home 12-year-olds won two games on Sunday to take home the title of the North Arkansas State Tournament at Rogers. The local team began the day by shutting out the host team 7-0, and they later secured the championship with a 10-1 victory over the Carroll County Legends. Mountain Home will begin action in the Southwest Regional Tournament July 12th in Florence, Alabama.

The Mountain Home 10-year-old Sharks won a state championship Sunday with a 10-4 victory Batesville.
Drew Haney was the winning pitcher. Chance Berwald had four hits.
The Mountain Home 10-year-olds head to the Southwest Regional in Levelland, Texas starting July 12.

One of Mountain Home’s eight-year-old teams ended up winning the North Arkansas State Tournament at Harrison. The Naturals won the title game over Springdale 11-8.
