With typical summertime weather patterns developing, bringing minimal precipitation and drier conditions, the first area burn ban has been implemented.

Cotter officials advised Thursday morning a burn ban has been posted for the city until further notice.

A check with the Arkansas Forestry Commission indicates no county burn bans having been implemented across the state at this time.

The National Weather Service in North Little Rock indicates the best chances for precipitation in northern Arkansas are Friday and Monday, with a 40 percent chance of rain both days.

The last significant rainfall recorded at KTLO, Classic Hits, and The Boot, the official weather station for the National Weather Service, occurred on June 25th with 1.02 inches of rain.
