A Baxter County man, 34-year-old Christopher Brophy of Mountain Home, has been charged with a felony count of domestic battery following an incident leaving a woman bruised, bleeding and with a broken scapula.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a Baxter County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence along Patricia Lane off Highway 5 North June 10th for a physical domestic incident. The suspect, later identified as Brophy, had left the residence before the officer’s arrival.

The officer observed the victim with visible injuries to her face and bleeding from her mouth. The officer also observed finger marks on her neck and chest area and possibly a dislocated shoulder. She told the officer she and Brophy had been fighting for two days. She said when she told him to leave, he became irate, threw her to the floor and started beating her before leaving, indicating he might be going to his father’s residence.

Officers located Brophy at a residence along Westridge Road. When he answered the door, he reportedly said, “I know I’m getting arrested and going to jail.”

The victim was examined at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Along with the visual injuries, it was determined she had suffered a broken right scapula.

Brophy was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center Wednesday. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is set to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court later this month.
