June weather recap, one record rainfall, still in plus column

The month of June was tranquil in the Twin Lakes Area with near normal rainfall, which included a new daily record. The rainfall recorded for June 1st at KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service in Mountain Home, was 1.91 inches, breaking the old record of 1.88 inches set in 1978.

For the month, 4.12 inches of rain were recorded, slightly above the average June rainfall which is 3.99 inches. For the year to date, 26.13 inches of rain have fallen, which puts us nearly 3 inches ahead for the year to date. The average rainfall in Mountain Home through the first six months of the year is 23.19, which means we are 2.94 inches on the plus side.

Being ahead for the year at this time is a good thing because July and August are, statistically, the driest months of the year. July’s average rainfall is 2.73 inches while August’s is 2.59 inches.

No record highs or lows were recorded in June. The warmest temperature was 98 on June 29th. The coldest temperature was 59 on June 4th.
