Blue Storm wins Babe Ruth state championship

Mountain Home Youth Baseball can add another trophy to the collection. The Blue Storm left Harrison Saturday as the champions of the Babe Ruth North Arkansas 14-Year-Old State Tournament.

Mountain Home began the day by defeating Bentonville 9-2 in the semifinals. Will Beckham led the Blue Storm with three hits, two runs and four RBIs; Keegan Rickman had two base hits and scored both times; and Jackson Jones added two hits, a walk, a run and an RBI.

The championship game was even more lopside as Mountain Home routed Fort Smith 25-1. The mercy rule went into effect as Trent Jordan pitched all three innings, struck out four batters and gave up two hits, one walk and one earned run. Offensively, the Blue Storm was led by Jones with three hits, three runs and six RBIs; Beckham ended up with three hits, a walk, three runs and two RBIs; Reed Ellison provided two hits, walked once, scored four runs and drove in four more; Jordan had two hits, two walks, four runs and an RBI; July Stone finished with two hits, a walk, three runs and an RBI; and Rickman added a hit, a walk, two runs and three RBIs.

Mountain Home has punched its ticket to the Southwest Regional Tournament beginning July 19th in Arkadelphia.
