Rural Community Alliance has announced the expansion of Arkansas Quilt Trails to Searcy County. The trail consists of brightly painted patterns on wood ranging from eight-foot to four-foot squares. The Greater Searcy County Chamber of Commerce is the sponsor of the county trail and has strategically placed 12 quilt blocks in each community around the county.

Each quilt block has a story behind it, usually telling some interesting history about the building on which it hangs or the surrounding community. These stories are shared online at arkansasquilttrails.com/.

Other counties with quilt trails in the development stage are Newton, Van Buren, Boon, Cleburne, and Pike counties. Once a county has 12 blocks, its trail is added to the website and to promotional materials. To add a block to a trail in the region, contact Newton County coordinator Sharon Pierce at 870-434-5508, Boon County co-coordinator Gayla Lynch at 870-715-0632, or Searcy County coordinator Darryl Treat at 501-941-4828.
