Searcy County authorities search for jail escapee

Jason Brannon, a Searcy County Jail escapee was captured early Sunday morning, but another is still on the loose. According to the Searcy County Sheriff’s Department, deputies are on the hunt for Matthew Armstrong after he and Jason Brannon escaped from the Marshall facility Saturday evening.

Armstrong was being held on a charge of first-degree murder. Sheriff Joey Pruitt says Brannon, a homeless sex offender from Baxter County, was captured Sunday morning before 6:00.

Sheriff Pruitt says Armstrong was not armed when he escaped the jail, but he is considered dangerous. Area residents and tourists are being urged to lock their doors and cars as a precautionary measure. Anyone who sees Armstrong is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately, and to not approach him.
