Architect interviews for a planned safe room on the Cotter Public Schools campus are on the agenda for Thursday evening’s regular monthly board meeting at 7:00.

Superintendent Vanessa Thomas-Jones says the district is applying for a FEMA grant to cover the cost of the safe room planned for use for both the school district and the community.

Thomas-Jones says early estimates indicate the safe room will be approximately 6,000 square feet and be constructed adjacent to the school’s cafeteria. The location will allow the facility to be used for additional seating for students at lunch time.

Other items of business on the agenda include exterior paint and food service bids. A technology presentation on E-rate, the federal program assisting schools and libraries in obtaining broadband at discounted prices, is also on the agenda.

The board will also consider handbook changes and a petition for student transfer, as well as personnel, with an executive session if needed.

The meeting will be held in the administration building.
