ABC/Image Group LA When Darius Rucker heads out on the Summer Plays On Tour with Lady Antebellum, he’ll not only be sharing the bill with some of country’s biggest hitmakers, he’ll also be hanging out with some of his best buds.

Charles [Kelley] is probably my best friend in the business,” Darius tells ABC Radio. “He’s one of those people I know I can call at any time and talk to about anything and ask him anything, and he knows the same about me. He’s an amazing human being and I’m proud to call him my friend.”

Even though Darius and Charles are both avid golfers, the two don’t usually get to hit the links as often as you might think.

“We don’t get to play a lot of golf together,” Darius reveals. “You know, we play when we can but it’s more hanging out or talking on the phone or texting each other, or you know, singing together. That’s what we really love to do, is when we get to, you know, get together and sing.”

In fact, Charles is featured on Darius’s latest single, “Straight to Hell,” along with Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean.

It’s a good bet that Charles and Darius will be making up for lost time on the green in the coming weeks, since Charles has already pointed out he’s happy to have his “golf buddy” along for the tour.

Darius and Lady A do their first Summer Plays On show tonight in Toronto, Canada, before playing Cleveland, Ohio Friday. On Saturday, Darius reunites with Hootie & the Blowfish for a special appearance on Jason Aldean’s show at Suntrust Park in Atlanta.
