The Mountain Home School Board, during its regular July session Thursday night, approved funding for new school resource officers and small raises for employees with the approval of the 2018-19 school budget.Superintendent Dr. Jake Long says the budget comes in at nearly $37M. He says there are several areas where the income or expenditures have gone up or down from last year.
The new school resource officers will be placed at Nelson-Wilks-Herron Elementary and Pinkston Middle School in an effort to improve the safety of students.
The board started work on the budget during a special session three weeks ago.
In other action Thursday night, the Mountain Home School Board approved funding if needed to add a new school-based mental health professional and also approved a new pilot program which will provide free breakfast to students in grades kindergarten through second.
