Shopping couple arrested after gun, drugs discovered

A man and woman reported acting “strangely” at a local retailer have been arrested after a stolen weapon was found in her purse and methamphetamine was located in his shopping cart.

According to the probable cause affidavits, Mountain Home Police responded to the business where the woman, 24-year-old Courtney Burleson of Mountain Home, gave officers permission to search her belongings. In her purse, officers located a unloaded handgun reported stolen in Ravenden.

When officers proceeded to escort the man, 32-year-old Daryl Krueger of Mountain Home, to the front of the store, they located a small baggie with a white crystalline substance inside a plastic tub in his shopping cart. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Tuesday, the same day Krueger was arrested and charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said charges were filed against two men following a search of a residence along Floyd Street in Mountain Home. Sheriff Montgomery said the residence is the home of parolee Krueger.

A search waiver was on file with Arkansas Community Corrections permitting officers to search the residence of the parolee.

During the search, officers found approximately one-tenth of a gram of heroin, approximately 6 grams of methamphetamine, four clonazepam pills, and approximately 2 grams of marijuana.

In addition, various articles of drug paraphernalia were found, including scales, syringes, and smoking devices.

Krueger is charged with felony counts of possession of controlled substance with purpose to deliver, heroin, methamphetamine, and the Schedule IV drug clonazepam, as well as two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He also faces a misdemeanor count of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, marijuana, with purpose to deliver.

His bond was set at $20,000.

Burleson has been charged with a felony count of theft by receiving. Online jail records indicate her bond was set at $2,500.
