Last month, Jennifer Nettles posted a photo of herself in the studio with Josh Groban, teasing that the two had recorded a duet. Now, she’s revealed a little taste of what their collaboration sounds like.
In a 20-second snippet of the power ballad, Josh and Jennifer join their powerful voices together to sing, “Nothing unspoken/live every day hoping/and when we feel broken/our scars make us golden/We still choose you and I.”
Jennifer re-posted Josh’s initial snippet, writing, “I am so excited for you all to hear this collab!!! This song!!! His whole record!!!”
Meanwhille, Josh also praised his duet partner: “I feel like sharing a snippet. @jennifernettles you are just too damn good and cool,” Josh captioned a photo, which shows him and Jennifer leaning over a mixing board in a recording studio.
He added the hashtags #99years, #bridges and #sept21. Since Josh’s album Bridges is out September 21, we can assume that the song is called “99 Years.”
Josh isn’t the first pop star Jennifer, who’s one half of the country duo Sugarland, has collaborated with. Her duet with Bon Jovi, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” won a Grammy, and she also duetted with singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson on his 2011 single “Run.”
Sugarland also recently released the single “Babe,” which was co-written by Taylor Swift and Train‘s Pat Monahan, and features Taylor on vocals.
