A Marion County woman, 51-year-old Carissa Steele of Flippin, has been sentenced to four years of probation on a felony count of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

The sentencing order from Judge Gordon Webb came earlier this month in Marion County Circuit Court following a negotiated plea agreement.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a Marion County deputy was dispatched to a residence along County Road 7055 February 17th to check for Steele. The Flippin woman was wanted on a warrant for failure to pay.

About an hour after transporting Steele to the Marion County jail, the deputy was advised seven white tablets were found in the woman’s purse. The pills were inside a clear plastic wrapper and were marked with an “M” on one side and “57 71” on the reverse side. The pills were identified as methadone hydrochloride, a Schedule II controlled substance.
