Big Loud RecordsTwelve years ago this week, Jake Owen’s debut album was released. Fast forward to today, and the Florida native again climbs to #1 with “I Was Jack (You Were Diane).”

The tribute to John Mellencamp’s 1982 classic is not only the fastest-rising single of Jake’s career, it also has the rock legend’s personal seal of approval.

“It’s my 7th. Lucky number 7,” Jake reflects in a lengthy post on Instagram. “Thank you John Mellencamp for trusting us and allowing us to pay our respects to you and everything you’ve done to pave the way for so many of us in the music industry.”

“I feel like I’m just getting started,” Jake adds. “I have a lot more left in my tank.”

Jake continues his Life’s Whatcha Make It Tour, playing minor league baseball stadiums with Jordan Davis and Chris Janson, through September. Expect an announcement about Jake’s fall headlining tour and his new single in the coming days.
