The topic of parking is expected to be discussed at Thursday’s meeting of the Mountain Home City Council’s parks and recreation committee.A caller to KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News says a group who frequents the city’s dog park at Keller Park on Rossi Road is planning to attend the meeting to address changes in parking at the facility.Members of the group are questioning new “no parking” signage near the entrance to the dog park. The caller says the signage was erected to accommodate ballpark tournament goers.

But Parks and Recreation Director Billy Austin says while the area has been used as a parking lot, it is actually an unnamed street. With the vehicles parking along the street, it creates conditions for potential accidents. He says those who have been utilizing this area to leave their vehicles have been parking illegally.

While some have maintained the new signage is to accommodate those attending ballpark tournaments, Austin says all parking is now officially prohibited along the street.

Austin says he is working with Mayor Joe Dillard and Street Superintendent Arnold Knox to construct new handicapped parking near the dog park.

The parks and recreation committee will meet Thursday evening at 5:00 in the council chambers at Mountain Home City Hall.
