The “Cry Pretty” hitmaker fell down the steps of her Nashville home last November while taking her dogs out. She broke her wrist, requiring more than 40 stitches on her face, but her absence from the public eye seemed to fuel speculation she might’ve had something done.

“I’m on some magazine every other week for something crazy,” Carrie tells Redbook. “It’s a little sad, because the truth is just as interesting. I wish I’d gotten some awesome plastic surgery to make this [scar] look better.”

“But I try not to worry too much about it,” she adds. ““My mom will be like, ‘Did you see they are saying this about you?’ And I’ll be like, ‘Mama, I don’t care. I’m just trying to raise my son and live my life.’”

The Oklahoma native also opens up about whether she’ll have another baby, another topic of intense speculation.

“I’m 35, so we may have missed our chance to have a big family,” Carrie admits. “We always talk about adoption and about doing it when our child or children are a little older.”

Carrie’s son Isaiah is three. She and husband Mike Fisher recently celebrated their eighth anniversary.

Her new album, also titled Cry Pretty, comes out September 14. Carrie co-produced it and says the record is “much more me” than her previous efforts.
