UPDATE: One person killed, three hurt in Lake Norfork boating accident

UPDATE 7:55 PM Sunday: 

The victim of Sunday’s boating accident on Lake Norfork has been identified as 71-year-old Carolyn Lee Davis of Maryland Heights, Missouri.  The names of the three injured people have not been released.

All of the victims of the accident were transported by boat to Bidwell Point swim beach where emergency medical personnel were waiting.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is conducting the accident investigation.  They were assisted at the scene by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, the 101 Gamaliel Fire Department and their rescue boat, the Arkansas State Police, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rangers, Air Evac and Baxter Regional Medical Center.

A Missouri woman is dead and three other Missouri residents were injured in a boating accident on Lake Norfork Sunday afternoon.  No names have been released but KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news has learned the woman who was killed is a 71-year-old from Maryland Heights Missouri.  The injured include another person from Maryland Heights and two people from Kirksville.

Sergeant Brad Hurst from the Baxter County Sheriff’s office, who is assisting the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officers Doug Small and Jeff Cowan with the investigation of the accident, says the accident happened with an 18 foot ski boat with four passengers ran aground between Bidwell Point and the 101 Boat Dock and overturned.  The woman who was killed was pinned under the vessel.  One person was airlifted to a Springfield hospital and two others were taken by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center.

The accident happened about 12:05 Sunday afternoon.  More details about the boat accident are expected to be released Monday.
