A Mountain Home man is accused of stabbing a woman at a local motel. According to the Mountain Home Police Department, 47-year-old Tony Griffin was booked Saturday evening into the Baxter County Detention Center for first-degree criminal attempt to commit murder, third-degree battery and other charges pending. He is currently being held without bond.

Officers were dispatched to the motel Saturday afternoon for a reported stabbing, and when they arrived, they found two subjects covered in blood. The female stated she was the victim, and Griffin allegedly admitted to stabbing her. Griffin and the victim were reportedly heard arguing and getting loud when he grabbed her by the throat, pulled her from a bicycle and stabbed her repeatedly.

The victim was transported to the hospital for her injuries, and Griffin was transported to the police department and read his rights. Griffin reportedly stated post Miranda the victim owed him money, and he was going to kill her because she threatened to have him taken care of. He then demonstrated how he grabbed her and stabbed her.

An officer went to the hospital on Sunday and spoke to the victim whose injuries were non-life threatening. She stated she had been staying in Griffin’s room for nearly two weeks, but she had gone to the motel to return his room key. She also alleged Griffin attacked her and stabbed her in the leg nearly a week prior, but she didn’t report it. She claimed she was attempting to end the relationship when Griffin grabbed her by the throat and stabbed her. She said Griffin told her to get in his room and was attempting to pull her in when others arrived due to her cries for help.

Griffin is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court.
