MH girls represented at top of team, individual leaderboards in 1st round of Ultimate golf tourney

Mountain Home began hosting the two-day Ultimate Auto Group High School Golf Tournament Monday at Big Creek Golf and Country Club, and the host school was able to shine on the girls’ side after the opening round.

The Lady Bombers have a total of 258 to top the team leaderboard, and Greenwood is six strokes back in second place. In addition, the top two individual golfers are representing Mountain Home. Kenzie Collins shot a 76 as she leads teammate Sydney Czanstkowski by one stroke. Holly Heslep of Cabot and McKayla Hussey of Berryville are tied for third at 80.

The eight-time defending Class 6A state champions from Jonesboro are at the top of the boys’ leaderboard with a total of 302, and Cabot is one stroke back. Mountain Home is currently tied for tenth with Siloam Springs at 368. The individual leader is Evan Griffith of Greenwood at one-under-par 71, and Connor Gaunt of Cabot and Ethan Loafman of Rogers are tied for second at even-par 72. The Bombers’ top golfers are Luke Jackson with an 84 and Weston Hoover with an 89.

The tournament’s final round is scheduled for Tuesday with the tee time set for 8 a.m.
