2 file for office in Baxter County, 4 in Marion County

With less than one week until the filing period closes for nonpartisan municipal-level offices, both Baxter and Marion County clerks’ offices reported activity on Friday.

In Baxter County, a race has developed between incumbent Mountain Home City Council member Carl Graves and challenger Bob “D.J. Peace” Van Haaren.

The second filing was in Big Flat where Michael Treat filed for treasurer.

In Marion County, Yellville Mayor Shawn Lane filed for re-election, along with council member incumbent Layton Lee.

There were two filings for the Summit City Council from incumbents Kyle Barnes and Jaunie Lunceford.

The filing period for nonpartisan municipal-level offices closes at noon on Friday.
