An Izard County man is accused of committing sexual acts in front of his teenage stepdaughter. Izard County Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley reports 50-year-old Christopher Freemyer of Melbourne was arrested Wednesday on a felony count of sexual indecency with a child, and he is in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

A child abuse hot line call was made last Tuesday in reference to a 17-year-old female receiving a text from her stepfather asking if she wanted to watch him commit the act. Freemyer was identified as the suspect. An Arkansas State Police investigator interviewed the female later that day, and she stated she came out of the shower the previous Sunday and saw her stepfather performing the act. She went to her room and reportedly received a text stating “watch?” The teen also stated her stepfather told her nearly two years earlier he had a sexual dream about her.

The state police investigator and an Izard County deputy then interviewed Freemyer’s wife. She stated she couldn’t sleep that Sunday night and went to the living room. She claims she observed her husband performing the act and believed he was texting a girl. She found out he had texted the teen “watch?” Freemyer reportedly first denied he wanted the teen to watch, but he later admitted it. His wife said she beat him with a walking cane and made him leave the residence. She reportedly found him the next day in the park by Ozarka College, and he stated he needed help. Freemyer was allowed to come back in the house that day.

The investigator and deputy then interviewed Freemyer after advising him of his rights. He allegedly admitted to sending the text and later deleting it from his phone. He stated he needed help.

Freemyer is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court.
