HARRISON, Ark. — Voters in Harrison overwhelmingly approved extending two local sales taxes Tuesday. Both taxes passed with 76 percent of the vote.
For the general fund quarter-cent tax, 576 were in favor and 184 against. For the infrastructure half-cent tax, 567 voted in favor and 182 against.
The general fund tax is a quarter-cent sales tax. It pays for the fire and police departments and funds parks and other city departments.
The infrastructure tax is a half-cent tax which funds water, sewer and street improvements.
