JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) _ An ethics panel says there’s reason to believe former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens broke the law over how his campaign reported a donor list it obtained from a charity he founded.
But the Missouri Ethics Commission director in a Friday letter wrote the local prosecutor won’t press charges. Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson said he didn’t find evidence of “willful misrepresentation” over when The
Mission Continues donor list was reported.
Greitens resigned in June amid scandals, including questions about the donor
list. Greitens amended his finance reports to show the list as a donation from a
campaign worker, who has said he was duped into taking the fall.
Greitens’ campaign attorney Catherine Hanaway noted Greitens has left
office and said it’s time to move on.
