Master Gardener program accepting applications

Applications are being taken in Baxter and Marion counties for the Master Gardener training program conducted by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service.

The program will take place October 17th, 24th, 31st and November 7th and 14th in Mountain Home. The classes will begin each morning at 8:30 and end at 4:00.

Training topics will include an overview of the Master Gardener program, basic botany, soils, fertilizers, home vegetable production, home fruit production, turf, plant propagation, pest control, ornamentals and plant diseases.

All training will be conducted by Cooperative Extension Service professionals and books and other materials are furnished. There will be a charge of $100, $150 for a couple with one notebook, to cover cost of the training.
