Schuyler Brower has announced his candidacy for the Cotter City Council for the Ward 2, Position 2 seat.

Brower says he is very optimistic about the future of Cotter and believes the city needs additional revenue to build its deteriorating infrastructure.

Brower is a past chairman of the Cotter Planning and Zoning Board. He has a keen interest in planning what will promote the growth of commercial opportunities, while protecting the comfortable casual lifestyle citizens of Cotter currently enjoy. According to Brower, Cotter has a terrific opportunity for planned, healthy growth. Brower says he believes the city’s assets include clean air, clear water, outstanding trout fishing, a great school system and the presence of an art community. Brower says he feels the city’s greatest asset is its citizens, who have many talents and, when working together, can insure Cotter grows and prospers.

Brower has decades of business experience, including 14 years with Fortune 500 companies, 20 years as a small business owner providing surgical technology to hospitals in three states and 16 years in the real estate market, buying, selling, rehabbing and managing properties in Tennessee and Arkansas. He is a licensed realtor.

Brower is also a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the American Legion. In addition, he holds membership in a number of local organizations, including the Cotter-Gassville Chamber of Commerce, the North Arkansas Fly Fishers and the Friends of the Norfork National Fish Hatchery.

Brower and his wife, Marcia, have been married for 20 years and have been Cotter property owners since 2007. He says they consider their 10 years in Cotter the gift of a lifetime.
